This year's logo honors Women of the Colonial Days and the Trials and Tribulations they had to endure during these early days. The women of this period did not have any of the modern conveniences of today - washing machines, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, etc. In those days, they were lucky if their home had wooden floors instead of dirt floors.
Pictured is Lucky Lucy, the mythical French Canadian heroine, famous for her many daring adventures during the days when the Great Lakes were ruled by France. She was well known amongst the Great Lakes area settlers for her long and fierce battle with the Great White Carp. It was over 45 feet long and had terrorized the early shipping on the Lakes for many years. She is also responsible for putting an end to the gigantic porcupines and turning them into mountains, finding a home for the gigantic clumsy bear that became the Sleeping Bear Sand dunes, and dealing with the huge turtle that is now an island called Mackinac. You would have learned more about these and her many other adventures at this year's Feast.
